Yes, the performance would be terrible in weather approaching 32F/0C, and also your stove is now even higher in the air than on a typical upright canister stove, making it more vulnerable to wind and more prone to tipping. I'm surprised that Brunton made their CanStand to fit that size. I'll try it some time, but I'm not hoping for much other than really cheap gas. In good weather (above 40F/4C), butane is every bit as good as isobutane or propane.
I think the CanStand is now being done away with though. The Brunton stoves we have known for the past couple of years seem to be only on close out sites now, and the Brunton website now says that Brunton will be marketing Primus stoves.
