|
Hey there!
I had a nice idea i'd like to share. Basically its a tealight stove that can be fully regulated trough the firebuckets air entry without changing anything else. Nice for simmering
Here's the pics,
full:
3/4:
1/2: (little less... )
tiny:
Inside the windscreen... handles stick out for adjusting the output:
The tealight is secured nicely by the mounting wich also doubles as a handle and snuffer. Less likely to set anything on fire... , Plus you could prime your supercat with it!
I used 0.3 mm (~0.11 in) alumium and a regular tealight.
Building ist straight forward: Just bend it around the tealight.
The U-shaped end can be right angled (in contrast to the pictures):
And that's how mine turned out: (w/ lights on)
You could also:
1) Insulate the handles
2) Make the bottom piece wider and bend it around the sides of the tealight to guide the tealight
3) add a scale on the bottom piece from "full power" to "snuff!"
Have fun, feedback is very welcome (everyone likes that ->) AND Thanks to Jim for your nice work!

Markus -
Excellent idea and a great post... thanks for your feedback! Will build a tealight stove myself as soon as I have a few minutes.
Best regards,
Jim.

Thanks,
I tested it a bit further yesterday and I found the same problem that i had with all alcohol stoves under a tight (good) windscreen:
(In fact something that is obvious and no one seems to care...)
The thermal feedback from the hot pot and the windscreen heats the alcohol in the tealight up and it starts to vapourize/pressurize,
then its again hard to reduce the output.
- After 5 seconds outside the screen everything is fine again.
Because of the same problem i'm using the "simmer cat" all the time. I think it burns more efficient. (blueish, no flares around the pot, not too much updraft/chimney effect)
whatever,
i have some more ideas

Ok, some news:
Tested a slightly larger version (bigger bottom plate) outside, this time with a "normal" windscreen and 1 liter pot.
Now it seems to work fairly good and i think its save to recommend it!
bye

I just want to congratulate you for making a good concept of your tea light stove. This kind of stove will give some idea to make my own tea light stove too. I guess you have used recycled materials. _________________ Wood Fired Pizza Oven |

Tealight warmers can be dangerous because you have no control over how hot the flame gets, thus creating a fire hazard. _________________ contemporary stoves |
